News, news and more news.

Hello one and all and apologies for the lack of updates, however life has been a bit hectic with one thing and another, but we finally have two minutes to update you.

Firstly we are having a bit of a change around in terms of the draughts that we offer and have installed Coors Light that will eventually replace the Poretti draught. Secondly next week we are having Westons Ice Cider installed, which is a very clever piece of kit that produces frozen cider from the pump along with the cider itself, should be interesting.

Furthermore we are installing two large flat screens in to the bar which will show TV, i.e. important football games etc. There is talk of showing X Factor on Saturday and Sundays ( we will have to see)

As you can see we have had a real push at providing the things we have been asked for. One issue seems to be that people come in and ask us for something, never to return again. Whilst we have a good crowd of regulars it is always nice to welcome new customers so please spread the word.

Finally this Saturday sees the Cherry Pickers play at TBB with a very special guest providing the entertainment during the break in their set. Our very own Lizzie will be performing so please come and show her your support.

Until next time ....

NEW Guinness system installed in the Bar !!

We have added a new system in the Bar which can pour draught Guinness. We have tested it (!) and our vote was to keep it.

Come and try a point !

PS Does anyone appreciate the fact I have to go through these posts and put the paragraph breaks in by hand in HTML !

Bottle Bar providing the Bar at StreetFest, Beach Lawns, Weston Super Mare. This weekend 19th and 20th Spetmeber

The Bottle Bar are providing the outside bar for the StreetFest Dance event on the Beach Lawns this weekend.

19th and 20th September will see the Beach Lawns host a StreetFest Community event, with special guests 2008 Britain's Got Talent Finalists, Nemesis. It should be a good event so come on down.

This Saturday Night 12th September 2009, Stage Fright, Live on TBB Main Stage

Great weekend last weekend, in fact a busy week. This week Stage Fright are performing, so far our most poular live act to date. Be sure not to miss it, did I really say that !

I have neglected the blog a bit, so will get some things up over then next week or so. We are having a few changes here in Weston, details to follow

Also we having some changes to our offers and various events on week day nights, details to follow too ...

Saturday Nights are Cocktail nights.

Exciting news, Saturday nights will officially become Cocktail Night, from this Saturday 5th September. Details to follow of which cocktails, suffice to say The Bottle Bar Special should be a winner.

Congratulations to Team Velindre who were the winner of last night's quiz. Quiz night continues to surprise and please us, very popular last night, with probably one of best ever Thursday nights.

Thank you to our customers, nearly one year !

Otter Ale and Coming Soon

Due to some intrepid adventuring from one of the partners here at The Bottle Bar, Beautiful Daze Ale, from Otter Brewery is now available, but for a limited period only.

We are putting together our Autumn entertainment schedule and will post details soon.

I'm out of here ! Away from the bar for the weekend. Ryan and Lorna playing 28/08/09 8pm, worth a visit. In the meantime I wish you all (or whoever is reading) a Happly Bank Holiday Weekend.

Update

Just a quick "done in one" update.
Last week's quiz was a big success, with Gordon/Jimmy and the rest of the boys winning the main prize. The bonus question was won by two teams, see if you can guess the answer " When was Channel 5 first broadcast in the UK ?"

DJ Jack on Friday night was a good night with text requests coming in thick and fast although High School Musical and Aaron Carter were not what I would call music as such. We will be having Jack back, so watch this space.

Saturday was a very unusual night, we were a little quiet early on however it did pick up to being very busy later on. I spoke to a local takeaway owner who said they had their busiest night in about 9 months. The reason for all this ............ X Factor ! People staying in with a takeaway to watch it and either didn't go out or went out much later than usual. Simon Cowell has a lot too answer for !

Quiz this Thursday, 8pm, usual format ! We will be making an announcement in the next couple of weeks about Wednesday nights, it will be a new sort of entertainment for us and will involve crowd participation, watch this space !

The only other news is that Lizzie, who works behind the bar on Sundays, has a hidden talent and is actually a very good singer. We have booked her for her debut performance on 3rd October at the bar. Good Luck Lizzie and we luck forward to it.

Any suggestions or comments then mail us info@bottle-bar.com

As mentioned on Jed Pitman's Breakfast show Original 106.5FM .....

Quiz night this Thursday 8pm. We had a mention yesterday on Original 106.5 FM, Jed Pitman's Breakfast show and were oficially named Weston Super Mare's Biggest quiz night (well we did tell them to say it)

It is fast becoming quite a large operation for us but we have more space, so if you fancy it the get down to West Street on a Thursday.

Nice weekend. This week's plans ....

Hello to anyone reading and thanks for visiting our website. Lovely weekend weather-wise last weekend, it would be good if we could have a few more like that !

The South West's ONLY Bottle Bar is pleased to announce that we will be unveiling a new product line in the bar in the next couple of weeks. We need to agree some paperwork but all being well we shall introduce something a bit less ordinary in soon. (Quick hint, it involves Somerset's favourite tipple !)

This week sees the quiz on Thursday, 8pm. Last week we had a record number of teams and are expecting similar this week, we are working out some extra seating too.

Then on Friday we have Tom Connibear playing at TBB, it's his first appearance with us so please come along and support a local business and a local act, both of us trying to start out in life !! http://www.myspace.com/tomcsolo Surfy laid back guitar, Jack Johnson-like !

The Bottle Bar now with Indoor Swimming Pool

Arrived at the bar yesterday to find a full scale flood. Plumbers upstairs had routed a hose pipe in to a shower tray that had over flowed and come through our ceiling and all over the bar. However with Mr C's help we managed to dry things out and get open for 7pm.

This means that quiz night will be taking place tonight and we are hoping to stream it on the Internet, don't ask me why we just are.

8pm tonight then for Weston Super Mare's Premier Pub Quiz.

Bottle Bar Music and News.

Good Morning, I hope you are all well. It is nice to know that our following is growing both on Twitter and also people viewing the blog. We do put effort in to these things to keep you informed, entertained and give you something to read when you are stuck in the office !

First off we have changed our music set up in the bar and are now able to play requests if you ask the bar staff. Generally the music is more laid back on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays and more upbeat on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Funniest site of the weekend for us was Friday night watching a group of male regulars dance to YMCA and Erasure, their girlfriends and female companions were both amused and confused. Anyway ask for a track to be played and we will play it if we can. 21st August will see DJ Jack William Cantwell host a Text Request night at The Bottle Bar. The number will be published both on here and Twitter.

We had our first celebrity Tweet yesterday. I happened to mention on Twitter that I was listening to William Orbit whilst ordering the stock and low and behold William Orbit Tweeted us direct ! See this at www.twitter.com/bottlebar

Quiz this Thursday with a roll-over bonus question ! Special cocktails this weekend, come and see us.

PS This morning I am listening to The Jam and Town Called Malice !

Sorry Blog for not posting properly. Twitter has been in favour ...

Just to update all you technophobes who are not part of the Twitter community. Quiz night was a roaring success last night with Validra winning the prize on the night and The Team without Ches winning the roll over jackpot, a not insubstantial prize !

As for everything else, well we are trying to source a Chilli Lager and hoping this will be in the bar in the next couple of weeks. Also looking at another business opportunity related to the bar, more news to follow on this as well.
We have some announcements re. Bottle Bar Events, our outdoor arm of the business so will update the site on those as well.

This weekend sees Matt Westcott playing on Saturday night, we are expecting a busy weekend due to Heliday in Weston. In fact sat in Bristol right now I can hear helicopters buzzing over head !

Keep following us and also a massive shout to Bradley Wiggens for the next couple of days at the Tour De France. Good Luck.

Quiz Night Tonight

Rollover Jackpot gets bigger and bigger. Introduction tonight of new bonus prize.

Next few weeks ...

I am off on holiday so the blog may not be updated over the next 2/3 weeks. Quiz nights will carry on, Thursday nights 8pm and Adam Lipinski is playing at the bar Friday 10th July. Yo voy a hablar espangnol ahora hasta pronto. Yo voy a extrañar a mis amigos todos los dias.

What a weekend !

As you may or may not have known The Bottle Bar provided the bar facilities at this year's Weston in Bloom event on the Beach Lawns. Saturday was absolutely mad, I think the queue out of the marquee was evidence enough.

Thank you to everyone who came to the event and visited us, the most popular drinks were Thatcher's Gold and Katy, so similar to the bar. Special thanks to Leslie and Steff for their help on Saturday afternoon, you were stars !

Busy Friday night in the Bar with Ryan Inglis, thanks again for a great night Ryan. Also a busy night Saturday with one lucky member of staff having to work on Beach Lawn all day and then at the bar !!

Pictures of the WIB below. Quiz this Thursday, and as mentioned before if you have any ideas, suggestions (not rude!) or would like to speak to us about outsife bar facilities then drop us an email at info@bottle-bar.com

Quiz Night Thursday 19th - 8PM

TBB at Le Mans

Brilliant Weekend and WESTON IN BLOOM 20th and 21st

Another busy weekend at TBB. Some great people in and a good atmosphere on Saturday night.

KATY is now far and away our best seller, probably selling twice as much as the second best seller.

As mentioned before the Bottle Bar are providing Bar Facilities at the Weston in Bloom event on the Beach Lawns this weekend 20 and 21 July. Open at 10am all day and FREE entry the main stage will feature acts such as Steve Williams, Ryan Inglis and Adam Lipinski.

Come done and see us, weather is predicted to be good

Congratulations to Lizzies Team

A very successful quiz night saw Lizzie's team, sorry can't remember the name, winning both the prize on the night and the roll over bonus question. £ 25, not bad for a half hours work and enough for a couple of rounds !

Thanks to everyone who attended and special thanks to Pete for boosting numbers significantly.

Looking forward to another busy weekend. Weather is set to be ok.

Quiz Night this Thursday and reporting on weekend.

Thanks to all those who attended Quiz Night last Thursday and apologies for the slight plumbing difficulties which have now been resolved. Bonus question was not answered so will rollover.

Quiz this Thursday, 11th June, all welcome, £ 1.50 entrance per person.

Update on the weekend just gone, very very busy night Friday with Stage Fright, apologies to anyone who could not get in to the venue, we were packed to the rafters.

We are in the process of booking up a couple of new artists so watch this space and don't forget that TBB will be providing bar facilities at Weston in Bloom. The stage will feature acts such as Ryan Inglis and Adam Lipinski and best of all, it's FREE

http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/weston-super-mare/events/158273/weston-in-bloom-community-show

Quiz Night Thursday 8th June and Now Open Every Tuesday

NOW OPEN EVERY TUESDAY

Basic principle is that you pay per person not team.

Each person pays £1.50 of which £1.00 goes into the winner’s pot and 50p into the bonus pot. This means that bigger teams may have more chance of winning but pay more to enter.

So if we have

Team A 5 players
Team B 4 players
Team C 3 players
Team D 3 players

This gives a winners pot of £15 and a bonus pot of £7.50.

The bonus question is meant to be hard so that we get a rollover happening.

Quiz Night ......

Details of quiz night next Thursday 4th June to follow in next couple of days.

PS It's Wednesday night, Champions League Final and it's me and Pete in the bar, on our own.

Smurfs, Formula One ..... When are you ever going to see that as a title again !

Very strange Saturday night with a large group of smurfs arriving at the bar, see pictures

and further to my earlier post we now have Steinlager from NZ.
Also new Real Ales in Cream and Pitchfork from RCH and New Cheddar and Bath Ales including Gorge Best, PotHoler, Gem and Wild Hare.

Spot Timmy Mallet ...

Thanks to Tom for sending in the picture, Timmy was trying to stay unrecognised that night !

Jan 30th Pictures, Adam Lipinski and Tara = Grace

Thanks to Adam and Tara for a great night, and thanks to all who attended. Interesting sights for the evening were Peter Pan's appearance and some very novel dancing.
We keep promising special offers and they are on there way, watch this space !
We have also been asked quite a lot for Steinlager so we will endeavour to find some and stock some. The rule of thumb is if we are asked by more than three people (on three seperate occasions!) then we will see if we can get the beer, cider, wine or spirit in.

Nearly finished January ...

Well it's nearly over. All these things you read about worst day of the year and everything really can get people down. I'm pleased to report that we continue to attract new customers in addition to our faithful regulars.
Numbers of beers have increased with the addition of Bath Ales Gem and Wild Hare, and Cheddar Ales Gorge Best and Potholer (don't ask me, I didn't name them!) Also added a few more bottled lagers and restocked so that everything is back in the fridge. For anyone who is interested the most popular beers currently are Chang, Okocim and Samuel Adams. After an eventful Friday last week I can also advise that we have restocked the Lanson, I am sure another bar in Weston will recycle the empty ones that they have found (long story!)
This Friday sees Adam Lipinski perform at the Bottle Bar so get down here and enjoy !

Live Music at The Bottle Bar

An update to let you know that Adam Lipinsky will be playing at the Bottle Bar on 30th of January.
Adam is on stage from 9pm and we know that there is a big crowd expected, so if you are interested it's best to get in early.

Friday 9th January

Hello everyone. Just a quick note to say that we have some special offers coming up so watch the website and the local press for details.
